2. In short
The Polarpixel app itself does not collect any personal data. There is no user account and no analytics, and I do not receive any data about you. You only see ads if you start them yourself to get fish, double speed or an extra spin of the lucky wheel. For this, the app uses Google AdMob (section 5). The game also works without an internet connection.
3. Game progress on your device
Your game progress (for example levels won, stars, fish, boosters, your penguin village, tasks and settings) is stored only locally on your device. I have no access to it. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, your progress is deleted as well.
If you have turned on Android backup in your Google account, Android may back up this app data together with your other device data in your Google account so that your progress can be restored on a new device. You control this backup yourself in the Android settings; Google's privacy terms apply.
4. In-app purchases
You can optionally buy fish (the in-game currency) and a starter pack with boosters through the Google Play billing system. Google handles the payment; the Google privacy policy and the Google Play terms of service apply. I do not receive any payment details such as card numbers. The app only receives a purchase confirmation with a purchase ID from Google Play in order to credit your purchase and prevent double credits. This ID stays on your device.
The legal basis is the performance of the purchase contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
5. Optional ads (Google AdMob)
You can choose to watch a short video ad: in the fish shop for a few fish, for 10 minutes of double speed or for an extra spin of the lucky wheel. There are no other ads in the game. The ads are provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
So that ads can be loaded, shown, billed and protected against abuse, the Google Mobile Ads SDK built into the app sends data directly to Google, in particular your IP address (from which an approximate location can be derived), the advertising ID and other identifiers of your device, device and app information (for example model, Android version, language), interactions with the ads (for example whether a video was watched) and technical diagnostic data. The transfer is encrypted. I do not receive this data myself, only aggregated ad statistics that cannot be linked to individuals.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app uses Google's consent dialog to ask whether Google may store or access information on your device and use it for personalized ads. The legal basis for this is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG). If you decline, Google only shows non-personalized or limited ads. Where no consent is required, processing is based on my legitimate interest in offering the game for free and preventing abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in the game settings under “Ad settings”.
Google may also transfer data to the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in the Android settings. More on how Google uses data from apps: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
6. App permissions
The app uses the internet connection for purchases via Google Play and for the optional ads, the advertising ID for ads from Google AdMob and vibration for game effects (can be turned off in the game settings).
7. Contact by email
If you write to me, I process your email address and the content of your message in order to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). I delete the message once it has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply.
8. This website
When you visit these pages, my hosting provider (IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany) processes technically necessary data such as IP address, date and time, the page requested and browser type in server log files in order to deliver the pages and keep the server secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The log files are deleted after a short time. These pages do not set cookies, do not use analytics or advertising services and do not load content from third-party servers; the font is hosted on the same server.
9. Children
The app itself does not collect personal data from children either. The ads are limited to content suitable for all ages. You can protect purchases in the Google Play settings with a confirmation or through Google Family Link.
10. Your rights
You have the rights under the GDPR, in particular the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (in the game settings under “Ad settings”). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Since the app does not send any data about you to me, I usually cannot provide information about game or ad data; for data held by Google, please contact Google. Feel free to write to me at the address above.
11. Changes
If the app changes, for example through new features, I will update this policy. The version published here applies.
